I find beauty in mundanity but am lonely all the more

I count the days until my hero’s journey greets me at my door

In dreams I see a soulful knight slaying monsters for my love

Though I tell him that his hand and heart will always be enough

Fleeting visions of a skyward sword are all I’ve ever had

But I’d have him here in linens before ever armor clad

I’d wake and lose all contact with the girl I longed to be

If this world was void of magic, I’d be its Calliope

Would I pass through life alone at heart, forever cursed to pine

Having heard those famous stories maybe one too many times

Tales scripted in the mind but deeper in the human soul

A thousand scrolls of yearnings that could somehow make us whole

I adore the knight for all his strength and grit and tenderness alike

A figment of the wit that one day breathed him into life

Stories must be written, and without zeal they are naught

The beauty of the words born in love from human thought

Some man once felt the ardor of a knight who dwells in lore

He’s the author of the tales that made me wish for something more

If in this world he lives and breathes, he gives me unchecked hope

That all the many things that I adore go far beyond a trope.
