He promised.

Promised me he would show up to every date, and important event.

That he would never lie to me

That he would never hurt me.

That I was the only one in his eyes.

He promised me that he loved me.

He held to those promises.

He showed up to all our dates, and every single-family dinner.

He never lied to me, telling me everything he thought and felt,

And he never ever hurt me.

He never looked at another girl, no matter how revealing they were.

He told me he loved me, every day.

I had fallen head over heels for him.

 I had promised him that I loved him.

That he was important to me.

That I would never lie or hurt him.

That I would never cheat.

I held to my promises…

But,  

He promised he would show up to every important date,

but not that he would show up on time.

He promised that he would never lie to me,

 but not that he wouldn’t hide things from me.

He promised me he would never hurt me,

but not physically.

He promised I was the only one in his eyes,

but not on his phone.

 He promised he loved me,

but not my heart.

He promised…

But I don’t trust promises anymore.
