"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." J.R.R. Tolkien

He took my right hand and I took my other
Traversing through ice in the heat of the summer
I may not live forever, and I will not remember
Every moment of beauty I've tucked away in my mind
But even windblown ashes can carry the memory of one so exquisite
In all that he was and ever strove to become
I’d paint an entire sky only to have it be seen by his eyes
Asking those stars if they knew just how lucky they were
To only for a moment
Relish in his loving gaze,
A gift to all that ever existed.
In what former life did I please God so well
That in a world filled with words he would bless me with poetry
I may not live forever, but he has breathed life into something that will
A reckless love so dangerous
The kind that killed Cyril.
We broke every written rule
Of where and why and how
That in their ways to me were perfect
And I will never not avow
Just how strong the spell is that keeps me grounded beneath the starlit sky
Conceived in love with only him in mind.
