barkatory
i let you meet my dog right before you broke my heart
playing fetch with a softball right there in the park
and i was dumb and insecure about how you would leave me first
seeing raccoons in your yard; i should’ve known it from the start
and i don’t want all dogs to go to heaven
i know it’s selfish
and i don’t want him to learn any lessons
i can’t stand it
so when he dies
his memories of you will fade but mine will still be left behind
