Promenade
Spring.
April showers wash the windows again.
Lilies in bloom
Blow at my feet,
We dance in the street,
Sun’s up above—
She’s falling in love
Once more with planet Earth,
That’s true.
Stroll in the shade
A sweet promenade.
Today is the greatest day in forever.
Waves
Lap at the baby’s ocean feet,
Sand-caves, castles of rocks,
Mountains of foam—
July is my home
Like the sun and clouds and
Cold lemonade,
A sweet promenade—
Today is the greatest day in forever.
Fall,
Green turns to golden brown,
Leaves fly.
Wind,
Howling cold air,
Climbing the stair,
Whipping my hair.
Orange balloons,
Cool harvest moons,
See winter skies
Dying again,
Chestnuts cracks,
The fireplace roars.
Watch it fade.
Take a sweet promenade.
Take a sweet promenade.
Even if the world should crumble
Tomorrow
Fear no pain and dread no
Sorrow,
Wander in the sunlit, green glades,
A sweet promenade.
Today is the greatest day in forever.
A beatnik or hippie style poem that sounds like jazz to me.
