Fame
Pawns
Sometimes the world seems to be at an end,
Almost as if we are nothing but specks in the wind.
If the world stopped spinning today,
I would close my eyes and say ‘okay’.
I would die happily that day.
Sometimes I think we are nothing but pawns,
Cleaning and mowing lawns,
Taking for granted the ones we call moms.
The end could come at any moment,
So we must take life and enjoy it.
If the world were to end today,
I would be okay.
For I could die happily that day.
If life is nothing but a game,
I don’t want it to be lame.
If life is nothing but a game,
Then I want fame.
I want people to know my name.
But there’s a difference between fame and popularity,
That’s something that most people don’t see.
I want to save lives,
Before God takes mine.
After all, we only have limited time.
We are born to die,
And we all die to live,
The one thing I’ve noticed about life is it always contradicts.
If the world stopped spinning today,
I would close my eyes and say ‘okay’,
I would die happily the day,
That people know my name.
This poem is written from the POV of someone who seeks fame their entire life.
