Sister
Since kindergarten, you've been there,
Remember all the things we went through?
You were always like my sister...
Always there to heal my boo-boo.
And I must admit, I miss you.
Where have you gone?
You used to be blonde...
But hazel suits you...
You ask how I've been- if only you knew.
Bright colors used to fill my closet,
Now it's full of black and hatred,
Do you see it?
You always said I had issues,
I guess now you'll know the truth.
I look in the mirror and see you,
I've always been jealous.
You have everything...
And yet you want none of it.
You hug me and tell me it's okay,
"I'll always be here!",
but then you tell Maddi,
"I don't even like her!"
You love to play me like this,
Am I just a game to you?
You are the sister that I lost,
and a path I wish I never crossed.
You used to be so innocent,
But come on, we all saw it coming.
Now you're the Starbucks advocate,
Never scared to drink a bit.
You paint your face so they will like you,
Tell me, how many guys have you let lay with you?
The old Claire that I knew,
Would never let this ---- come true.
You used to be my friend,
Tell me, when did you get a knife?
A backstabber is what others would call you- but I won't,
You replaced me with Brent,
Even though I saved your life,
You start with "I'm sorry", but I end with "Don't!"
I used to be your Schwester,
But when I asked you to call me Brother,
You punched me in the heart.
Now I wear long sleeves and sweaters.
Emo with a cheerleader,
We are polar opposites...
Yet we couldn't be more of the same.
Don't worry, I'll still be here for you,
Whether it's to play Runway,
Or if you wanna run away.
I'm always down.
And just because I always have a frown,
That doesn't mean that I don't have a crown.
After all, I am a king.
And you have always been a queen.
We couldn't be more of the same, Sis.
This is a letter to my ex-best friend, whom I've known since Kindergarten.
