“The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately.”

I once went on a trip,

To help people without homes was the mission.

Everything I learned, I shared with those closest to me,

That’s Ammunition.

To fuel the fire called awareness,

because it burns brilliantly bright, and it burns fast.

But why is it that people still ignore them.

Acting like we’re in first place and they’re in last.

I never understood why people turned a blind eye

To those less fortunate than

themselves.

We need to stop acting “holier than thou”

And start trying to figure out how to put food on their shelves.

Easier said than done, trust me I know,

But it wouldn’t hurt you to give them some money, just please don’t do it to boost your ego,

Do it to show them love.

Because lately love is lost,

Being looked down on like an insect at an intersection,

Would make anyone feel like an outsider in their own town.

We’re not gods and they’re not peons

So what we on needs respect

Except

That’s too much to ask isn’t it?

You’d rather die than give up your prideful ignorance to lend someone a few dollars that could mean the difference between staying in a motel or living in squalor.

I’m disappointed in humanity,

I’m disappointed in the vanity

Of our minds,

Our minds

seem to only focus on our needs and couldn’t care less about the needs of those around us.

What we need is a better behaved society.

This piece starts out addressing how the homeless are seen, and then slowly turns into how selfish we are towards others.
