Basketball Poem

I am from making every shot in warm up

To bricking every shot in the game

Not reading the play and the ball flying out of bounds

Swatting the ball instead of grabbing the rebound

I am from holding the ball at the line then getting your quad pulled in a pick

Getting dogged on by Vanilla Shaq

To blank looks after saying “tops or nones”

Being the defender of the year and 30th ranked offense

Forgetting everything I did at practice and looking like a clown

Hating the one thing that gets no attention the Backboard

Wanting every shot hoping to swish in and missing the rim entirely

From not knowing to getting around my defender and getting the ball stolen from behind

To my team not calling the pick and forgetting to say “switch”

A lefty shooting with his right hand his whole life until three weeks ago

Yeah the form is broken

Double rims don’t help either

Watching the best and warming the bench

I am from backpack shots

To “how did that go in”

I am from streetball trash

To getting picked last
