A Hard Lesson to Learn
I’ve learned that people forget
People will forget you
In the moment
It feels as though you could live forever
But in what you say, what you do,
They’ll forget it
Because you aren’t important
They’ll move on, but you won’t
I want to go back to the yesterdays
You were my shoulder, my comfort zone
Some nights it’s easy to forget you
Because who doesn’t want to forget the pain
But the memories of you come in waves
And tonight I’m drowning
The tears that drip down my face,
An empty reminder of who you were,
… of who we were
