My mother said,

Go home and do

The things you need to

Doesn’t matter where you are—

Even if you’re so far.

I wonder if it’s that simple?

I am sixteen, american, born in Texas.

I went to school there, then jumped from place to place,

Until I reached a little red dot.

I am one of many from Texas in my school,

But yet,

I feel that it’s just me from there,

Since I’ve jumped from place to place.

It’s not easy to move around,

But I’m sure you know what it’s like,

After all,

You’re here aren’t you.

I like to walk, talk, sleep, dream.

Now it’s different that were here,

I think you know what I mean.

I guess moving doesn’t make me not like

The things that we shared before.

Will I have to empty all my drawers?

Time has passed

Almost four years,

This will be not only apart of me,

But apart of you—
That’s us.

What I’ve learned from you,

Keep your head high,

Never look back,

These I see in you.

Continuing to come home and do—

Helping me to become calm,

Thanks to you, Mom
