The Tree of Life
A tree stands tall and firm
Not a leaf upon its branches
Alone in a field it grows
Overlooking the green grass
History fills its branches
Reaching toward a cloudy sky
Alone in a field it decays
Overlooking the dying grass
A tree falls with death
Nothing around to hear
Alone it has died
Only the grass is left behind

There is this tree that I used to pass on the way to my Grandma's. It was really old and had a lot of history around it. The story I heard about it had to do with the Civil War. There was just something about this tree that gave me chills so when it finally fell I decided to write about it.
