Alabanza
Alabanza
A word I’ve learned to live by
Alabanza
Take this beautiful thing
And raise it to the sky
Alabanza
Be grateful for everything around you
Alabanza
Show your love, pure and true
But in this world
It’s hard to find happiness
To find beauty
To raise anything to sky
So Alabanza
Is just an empty word to me
“Look for the little things”
I can hear Abuela say
“Alabanza”
I hear her shout
Even if it is just the sun in the sky
Or that warm hug goodbye
The duck’s crossing the street
The shoes on your feet
Everything little
Everything small
Alabanza
Be grateful for it all

I've learned to live by the word Alabanza, but when my depression became worse and I attempted suicide, it lost all meaning to me. I saw nothing to be grateful for. Eventually I realized I needed to look for the small things in life, and I want to share this beautiful word with everyone else.
