I remember my rifle sitting at my side,

My sergeant saying it is my life line.

I remember approaching the landing zone,

The cabin that was once so quiet you could hear the wind whistle,

Is now illuminated in red, followed by the piercing sound of the alarm.

I snap back to reality at the voice of my mother,

It was dinner time, and the battle would have to wait.

I loved pretending to be a soldier when I was little, so using trigger words i came up with this poem
