I’m from the glistening sweat on my back,

work, withering, whining in the sun.

From water, screaming at me to sip,

keep pedaling.

From Father, forcing me to keep up,

as my legs croak, the journey remains unfinished.

I’m from frozen roots,

my home atop a howling mountain.

From strapping into bindings,

that hug my legs like family.

From speed, snow, and sleet,

the experience set on repeat.

I’m from water,

dumping like rain in a hurricane.

From waves, slapping my skin,

to having laziness wash over me in the river.

From scorching, steamy, sweaty air,

that only the water can wash away.

I’m from the glistening sweat on my back,

work, withering, whining in the sun.

From water, screaming at me to sip,

keep pedaling.

From Father, forcing me to keep up,

as my legs croak, the journey remains unfinished.
