I do not love in moderation
I do not love in moderation;
I give with all my wretched heart--
it yearns and starves in cold stagnation
and lights the fire of summer star
I know not fraction in my ardor,
my heart is far too well in verse
and knows the limits of my fervor
when fervor in itself is curse
I cannot give my heart in pieces,
yet that is how it comes returned;
I do not love in moderation,
my lesson is one never learned.
