My Child
Yes I would lie to my child
The keep the magic in his eyes
And the edges in his smile
But I won’t hide stuff that they
Need to know
Such as poverty, starvation,
Problems with doe
I’ll tell them to do what they
Think is right in life
To follow their dreams
And do what they’d like
I’ll always remind them
To try and get ahead in life
Even if that means being patient
And having to wait
Because you can always get there early
But you can’t get there late
