Yellow Shirt
I love when you wear your yellow shirt.
Though others laugh at the shade,
Because it reminds them of a condiment,
I think it is beautifully made.
My eyes are drawn to its boldness
As soon as you enter the room.
It's these simple things that have
My love continuing to bloom.
Others regard you for your intelligence,
For no one else compares,
And while I do believe them right,
It's your style I hold dear.
It's a comfortable kind of style,
Laid-back and effortless.
But on the days you dress up,
I become breathless
And inspired to write
Endless poems about you.
But these words may never be shared,
For I am nervous to
Change our fragile friendship.
So I keep my feelings secret,
Hidden behind timid smiles
In response to your uniqueness,
And quietly wish to myself
That you will never throw out
That precious yellow shirt
That makes me love you without a doubt.
