Memorial Day
Everyday there are heroes who
Lay down their lives
So ordinary people
Like you and me can survive
We don’t remember
Most of their names
To us, all of them
Are mostly the same
To some they were their everything
Their world revolved around them
Everyday when they're away
Their life was sink or swim
Our freedom is built on
The blood of those who died
And the tear of their loved ones
Who cried and cried
Do you remember the American Revolution
Do you remember Omaha Shore
What about the War of 1812
What about the Vietnam War
Let’s not forget World War I
And there was Pearl Harbor
Also there was World War II
We didn't give up; we pushed harder
The War on Terror began
With the Twin Towers
There's Operation Iraqi Freedom
They stood tall and made our enemies cower
Some soldiers are
Lucky to leave
But there are others
We never get to see
So, come on
Lets hear it for
The ones who proudly
Wear the uniform
Enjoy time with your family
Because you are safe and okay
Just remember those who
Made it possible this Memorial Day
