Change
It was the eleventh month, the eleventh day
The moon was shining on the bay
The wind caught the sails, I headed west
Soon I must decide which way was best
My home up north beckoned me
All things familiar I could see
Down south was adventure yet unknown
For months now the idea had grown
Beaches and palm trees; friends that are new
Sands like snow, skies that are blue
Or five smiling faces my children, my wife
Bring in the fire wood, the familiar old life
If not now will it ever be
Endless vacation, the life for me?
But duty fits me like a glove
There is no substitute for love
