First Love
I promised I would remember,
The curve of your soft lips,
And the way they melted to mine,
Moulding to one another until our time was up,
Then you would say, “Always and forever.”
I promised I would remember,
Your syrupy charming chuckle,
As it made my lips perk up,
Yours would too,
Then you would whisper, “Always and forever.”
I promised I would remember,
The gentle dip in your chest,
Where my head would rest,
As we lay together,
Then you would lull, “Always and forever.”
I promised I would remember,
Your steady walloping heart,
And the way it swallowed mine
Each time I heard it speak,
Then you would mumble, “Always and forever.”
Now, I’ve forgotten the clear blue skies,
And your blue eyes,
All I remember is the secrets held,
Within the blue abyss’ depths,
When you whispered, “Goodbye.”
