She glistens as she walks
She is beautiful, she is gorgeous
It's velvet when she talks
The ballad of Mary Jane

She laughs, she sings
She wears shiny, glittery things
But what no one knows
The bright, glimmering glow
Is dampened, dark, and dingy
The ballad of Mary Jane

She walks home from the party
She gets insider her house
Putting away her only dress
Her life's a social mess
The ballad of Mary Jane

She sits alone inside her room
She cries all by herself
Laying upon her rugged mat
And wants to leave herself
The ballad of Mary Jane

Mary Jane walked out that night
The moon was big and full
The stars highlighted her blue-green eyes
The ballad of Mary Jane

Tears were flooding in her eyes
As she walked onto the bridge
She looked at the cold rushing water
The ballad of Mary Jane

The story goes she jumped that night
But no one really knows
But that is how the story ends
The ballad of Mary Jane

The author's comments:
This is a story about Mary Jane. She presents herself as high class but what no one sees is who she really is.
