Will you be my Valentine?
A small handmade heart-shaped card,
With lace around the edges.
My heart is threatening suicide,
It's sitting on the ledges.
I put my soul into this card,
For this very special day.
But as I see you looking at me,
I run out of words to say.
I wonder what your thinking,
As I place my card in your hand.
I wonder if my silence,
Will make you understand.
I wonder if you'll throw it away,
Or keep it in a box.
I wonder if you can hear my heart,
It's ticking like a clock.
And one day when your down,
All beaten up and scarred.
I hope you find this valentine,
And see all the love in my card.
I hope it makes you smile,
And dries up all your tears.
And maybe, just maybe,
You'll think of me standing here.
For oh! The innocence of a child,
Is heart wrenchingly true and pure.
A single drop of kindness,
Is every kind of cure.
So as I turn to run away,
I couldn't help but tell the truth.
Inside my little valentine,
Are all the heartbreaks of youth.
