Stargazing on the Walk Home
You stared into the summer night,
flooded in its flickering starlight.
It was a mirror, you were the reflection,
each star glimmering with intention.
The ink depths blinked back at you
before fading from black to blue.
But the summer nights were only fleeting,
like sixty short seconds of healing,
but you would talk to the moon
and it would echo back to you.
You thought perhaps it was an old friend,
walking you home as the party ends.
