2022 Traditions Poetry: Fireworks
January 31, 2022
I pull the lighter from my pocket,
A single click lets the flame loose.
The fire burns in controlled beauty,
As the glow eats over the fuse.
I run back in a hurry,
The moon following me in my path.
I meet the rest of my family,
Shivering amidst the wind’s wrath.
January’s sky is perfectly black,
But the veil soon disappears.
As golden lines of shooting stars,
Start erupting into beautiful spheres.
We watch the alluring fireworks,
The darkness is nothing to fear.
The sounds have scared the evil spirits,
Gifting us safety for the new year.
