Floodwater
The silence was too loud,
So you ran the tap to drown it out,
But you flooded the house.
You could only escape when you drowned.
They found your body in the kitchen.
When they stopped to listen,
You whispered through blue lips,
That you knew what you did.
Your face was cold, your lips curved in a smile,
You were lying on the clean, white tiles.
Your hair was woven in neat braids,
You looked so pretty when you succumbed to the waves.
You should see the graveyard in the sea
Where they buried your fragile body.
The floodwaters filled your lungs so quickly,
But even in death, your waterlogged eyes are glowing.
