Psychedelic Image
Psychedelic stares in the hallway
Carpet trapped and lamp glowing
Electric shocked and drug jolted
The painting is like a caught fish in its fake-gold frame
Off-white flowers and black waves of misery
Looking somewhat like a child’s face
Violet crescendo of strange timbre
Sinking into its invisible heartbeat throbbing
Till I stare at it with my back against the wall
Seeing my reflection in it distorted and glowing—
Alone with my reflection in the painting
I know that nobody can see me
The way the painting sees me
My palms are sweaty as I race down the hall
So little light to help my journey
I run on stumbling and know I will soon fall.
