It's all in your head
The church bells toll to signal the time,
The city’s at rest with the final chime.
Night is a time of rest and peace,
As we settle deep into sleep’s release.
But all is not how it seems to be,
There’s only so much our eyes can see.
Once fast asleep, all facades will fall,
Our dreams give a glimpse of what’s in us all.
Beneath the surface a whole world awaits,
For sleepy travelers who pass through its gates.
A place of mystery, intrigue, and wonder,
The depths of which tears reality asunder.
Try as you might, you won’t understand,
The rules that govern this strange new land.
Physics and science are lost once we dream,
Picking logic apart, seam by small seam.
A million colors run through our heads,
Traveling the world while safe in our beds.
Unusual, bizarre, unexplainable feats,
Occur often enough while wrapped in our sheets.
As morning drags us to the world of the living,
You’ll find that the world isn’t all that forgiving
Dreams are dismissed as “fleeting” and “fake”,
But how can you tell if you yourself are awake?
