American Voice
I yawp, therefore I am?
I yawp, therefore I’m American?
Is this a fair definition?
Describe and define are not the same.
The voice of America can be described in infinite ways—
It cannot be defined.
No definition can do justice to the endless stream of wordsmiths and word-artists.
The First presents the illustrious American title to any who would open their mouths and their eyes and sing.
A choir with only one voice cannot harmonize;
A soloist’s cacophony goes against what we stand for.
The singers of democracy are diverse—
None is better than another (although some do sound sweeter).
Harmony is what I listen for above all.
