The End of the World
Near the end of a long, wide bridge
We wait
Each day, each week, a few more steps
We walk
Distance and mystery obscure the other side
We gazed ahead
Once you cross, there is no going back
We wonder
Different paths converge at the same point
We travelled
From hours of struggle to minutes of ease
We toiled
All-consuming to the least of priority
We worried
Sleepless nights and exhausted days
We sacrificed
It was an ocean of names, faces, voices
We drowned
Of petty squabbles and eternal friends
We spoke
But also those who taught and guided us
We learned
An immeasurable impact, good or bad
We won’t forget
Countless memories and once-in-a-lifetimes
We lived
Added to our developing prisms of experience
We felt
Milestones to look back on, reminisce of a time
We’ll feel again
Where innocence had barely seen adulthood
We matured
A few years and here we are, near the end
We’re so close
Enemies, friends, mistakes, achievements
We’ve prepared
Come with us so we may still learn and grow
We continue
The world we know ends, only for it to begin anew
We graduate
