When the Dust Settles
When the dust settles
And anxiety
Dissipates once more
I close my tired eyes,
Let go.
All motion is stopped,
All dispute is gone
My heart's hammering
Comes close to a stop,
And then
Peacefulness invades
A smile spreads slowly,
Erases all signs
Of stress, of angst, of
My fears
When the dust settles,
I take a step back
And see destruction;
All my boundaries
Are gone.
