Where I'm From
I am from tattered shoes, from Barbie dolls and Polly Pockets.
I am from the big red swing in the backyard; hard and cold to the touch.
I am from the rhododendron, which is soft and fragrant. It is beautiful to the eye.
I'm from decorating a tree and fare skin. From the loud mouth Garret's and the big-hipped Musick's.
I'm from the long waisted and long lean legs. From 'Don't Slump' and 'make sure you know how to walk in those high heels.'
I'm from the Amazing Grace, how sweet the thou Art and from the Good Ol' Bible Believen' Church.
I'm from the Hillbilly State and proud of all those coal miners. From eating lots of biscuits and bacon.
From the one eyed blinded grandfather that was lost from a thorn bush and a deaf grandmother.
Once I found a cedar chest in my grandmother's room. It was filled with many memories. From wedding gowns to table cloths and pictures that would like to hide. I look at these items and see so much of my family roots. It makes me proud to be a part of my loving family!
