Sometimes it’s easy to forget
The ordinary day that we first met

We were only ten years old
But even then I knew my heart was sold

The years flew by as best-ever friends
From sandboxes to swingsets to other trends

As we got older, I saw him as much more
Than the boy I met in the local bookstore

The girl for him was waiting on his doormat
