The Heartbeat
The Heart.
It thumps in the depths of a loved one.
It thumps in the depths of an enemy.
The Heart.
It beats to a melody,
A melody that reaches beyond the sky.
The Heart.
It pumps the rich, red blood through you.
It pumps the hatred, love, passion through you.
The Heart.
It is music that you covet.
It is the one thing you see in a person.
But not me,
I loathe the Heart.
I see it as a ticking timer,
Not an organism of life,
But an organism of death.
The music is a torturing hell.
The thumps are danger to my ears.
You don't understand,
While you listen to the music of joy,
I turn my ear away,
Afraid to hear the Heart stop.
