Overlooking the town, on the tallest hill.
Throughout the summit, that perfume lingers still
A lonely cross was planted solid in the ground
It captures the moon and shoots its white beams down.
It's my somewhere special; it reminds me of many things
Some memories are pleasant, but that one always stings
The beautiful view clashes oddly with the guilt
I'm too close to the place where her blood was spilt
Will I ever get past this? No, I don't think so.
There's no way I can forget about it, no where I can go.
Nothing I can do, sometimes I can't stop the crying
I see it often; she's in my arms, slowly but surely dying
I had a good dream once; and I try to focus on it
But these feelings bombard me again once I reach the summit
And sometimes, one thing can make me momentarily forget
The sadness, guilt, anger, anxiety and regret
For a split second these emotions are suspended
For a brief span these terrible evils are ended
It happens only when I see a certain someone,
Without whom I would definitely turn my back and run
From the world, everything and everyone
And hide away, a hermit until my life is done
I have skeletons in my closet, but this person shuts the door
And every time she does it I love her more and more
When I see her face my darkness lightens and my clouds are cleared
What would happen to me if her love one day just disappeared?
