You Never Needed Me Anyway
You've been the sudden change
That I don't yet understand.
You've been the free fall
That I never had planned.
You’ve shown I have life
And so much more to live.
You’ve shown I'm worth more
Than what others seem to give.
You are the morning light
That I wake to see;
My last thought before
The darkness takes over me.
You’ve become my heaven
While I've been going through hell;
My late night lullaby
When I haven’t slept well.
Yours Is the face
That I look for in the crowd;
Yet the things I think about you
I can't seem to say out loud.
You've become my guide
Through this overwhelming year,
But I think of losing you
And I lose myself in fear.
You could have been my world
And become so much more;
I connect with you in a way
That I've never felt before.
And I thought I'd marked your heart
With more than just a trace,
But I can't think of you that way
Now you've put me in my place.
