Life Equation
In this crazy world my pain won't resolve
It sits solid like a problem unresolved
Funny how Algebra is my bestie
Compared with the issues of life, solving for x is easy
It's hard when you're sixteen
The equations are complex
Nothing will balance or simplify
And multiplying makes no sense
The hardest part is letting go
And squaring all the roots
All those factors deep inside
They hide pain my brain can't divide
My calculator's telling me to subtract you
But when I think of me alone
It's like 3+4 is two
If I could work this one on paper
Instead of just my heart
My mind would compute the answer
Part by part by part
Get rid of fractions
Don't ask questions
Hey, maybe that's the key
Why do I have one variable?
I should have one less than three
Understanding dawns on me
My problem simplifies
Both are negative; none are positive
We cancel each other out
And everything just feels so fine
Because x is equal to y
