Sisters Ghazal: Follow the Leader
I climbed across the keys, stumbling back and forth over her.
The notes, sharp or flat or uncertain, pulled me with her.
I grasped her hand,
A tide luring me out with her.
I stepped off the plane. She didn't stop me until my nose nicked the grass,
But I trusted her.
I stooped under her shade and the slick drops skid right off.
And even my feet weren't bumpy with dew, thanks to her.
I rolled to the bottom of the hill.
But now, I can only go up with her.

My older sister inspired me to write this ghazal; her leadership and loyalty are pivotal in my life. I hope that readers can identify with the relationship between the siblings and friends portrayed in this poem.
