We're Angels
I could care less about the number of houses you own
Or the amount of money you make
I want to know if you’ve ever had the desire
to invest a piece of your heart in philanthropy.
I could care less about the college degrees you’ve earned
Or the prestigious university you attended,
I want to know if you are willing to
share your knowledge with those who may need it more than you.
I could care less about how popular you are,
Or the number of parties you’ve been invited to,
I want to know if you have the capacity to forgive those who’ve wronged you
And if you know how to sympathize and empathize
I could care less about where you’ve from, how old you are,
Or how you were brought up,
I want to know if you’ve made it your life’s mission to pursue lifelong learning
I could care less about your appearance
Or the reputation you find necessary to uphold,
I want to know if you have a healthy self-esteem,
And if you have enough confidence to sustain you when everything else falls away
I could care less about the number of victories you’ve won
Or the number of people you’ve outwitted,
I want to know that you haven’t cheated anyone on your road to victory,
if you can lose with graciousness, and try again even when success seems impossible.
I want to know if you can distinguish true beauty from superficial aestheticism,
If you can uphold your morals in the face of adversity,
If you can find a bright side in the most unfortunate circumstances,
but above all,
If you can see yourself as God sees you,
If you can see your potential to fly.
