Gas Chambers

The room that everyone fears.
COLD
Full of naked bones huddling onto one another.
Screams, arise through the roof
The others on the outside, hear all
And pray that they are not next
No circulating air to pass through
Frozen together, unable to move
Shivering in disbelief that this could really happen
That God could allow this to happen
An odor lurks through the top
They all know what is next
A permanent sleep
One by one they slowly fall
There is no one left
Just bones lying on the floor
Purple with cold
And bald because of another
They lie there till the guards come in
And throw them into the pits of fire
Then they load up more
Till millions are gone
And goodness no longer exists

This poem was inspired by my frequent studies of the holocaust.
