Tangled in puppet strings attached
Attached to rafters covered in the webs
Webs of her past, present, and future
Future promises and dreams begin to float
Float down broken wires toward
Toward an equally broken girl left suspended
Suspended, frantically searching for escape,
Escape from the strings made of blood and tears
Tears into flesh, tears into the soul of her
Her cries catch on the rafters, a personal net
Net of nightmares, consumes in her mind
“Mind the puppet master” they say, do not cry
Cry only when the audience are dark
Dark walls and pitch black theaters
Theaters that watch the beautiful broken creature
Creature in the nets that cannot cry for freedom
Freedom is only for the puppet master
Master of life, soul, and bodies
Bodies so badly broken they appear grotesque, freakish
Freakish faces glaring up from the audiences
Audiences that sneer and jest at the grotesque creature
Creature of a human that once was
Was free, but now, is only tangled.
