Rescue
There is a water that's drifting over my senses like a numbing gas.
It tastes like vinegar and makes my stomach twist with the past.
My heart keeps beating faster than it should.
My lungs keep gasping for an air that would
be here
Just within the atmosphere.
But the space around me is filled by the liquid
and this bloodbath I'm wading through is thick and tepid.
I fear that I'm drowning beneath the weight of the sea,
but my hand feels your warmth; there is rescue for me
You lift me from torment and waken me from the cold.
You tell me my body needs no longer to be sold.
You've splintered my coffins with a hand of grace
and your strength has smothered all of my shame.
My lips no longer bleed from my wounding words.
Every pain in my soul has finally been upturned.
I know I am cherished by a lover of the light
and it feels so good knowing good has won the fight.
