Smile
A smile can lighten a person’s day,
It can lead someone down the right way.
But in the absence of a smile life turns quite dim,
Everything around seems dark, dank, and grim.
A void seems to open at the refusal to smile,
It leaves only sadness and stays for a while.
The void takes control of feelings quite grand,
And it squeezes them, crushing them in hand.
Despair is your friend in the void so dark,
You surrender your hopes once you embark.
Nothing can save you from the void of hurt,
Except for one thing that is quite pert.
A smile can destroy the void without delay,
It brings back the joy that went astray.
Forget this not, for every word of it’s true,
For one day, a smile might just save you.
