Where it Feels Like Home
My mare's mane swayed in the rough motion of her gallop
Her hooves hit the dirt road in a steady beat
Like the ticking of seconds on a clock
Birds squawked and animals rustled the grass
The forest around me was roaring down with its ferocious sounds
Branches scraped against my arms in a forceful manner
Causing little scrapes
In contrast to the branches
A light breeze ran gently through my hair
The trees danced in the wind
All around me was nature
But out here, in the forest, all felt peaceful and familiar
Even with the movement, the noise, the animals
Everything seemed still
Everything seemed silent
The world was at peace
Out here, on my horse, I felt safe
I felt at home
