Who Am I Fooling?
Nothing seems to fit
my words seem so hollow
I feel like a fake
that's a bitter pill to swallow
Nothing's the same
can't stand on my own, not without anyone else
need the thoughts of my infatuation
of needing to be someone else
Who am I fooling?
I'm just a girl with a painted smiling face
in my own make believe world
Who am I fooling?
I'm just at a masquerade
pretending like I'm a happy girl
I'm such a stupid, stupid girl
I look in the mirror
all I see is the mask
I chose to put on
chose my own path
to cover up my past
But not even I believe it
I'm sure someone can see it
behind my smile, a scared girl cries
my world is starting to shatter inside
If you knew how I felt,
if you could read my thoughts
you'd see I am just an illusion of imperfection
lying to everyone to protect what's left of me, the part I've got
Who am I fooling?
I'm just a painted smiling face
in my own make believe world
Who am I fooling?
I'm at my own masquerade
pretending I'm a perfect girl
such a stupid, stupid girl
I can't take back the pain
it hurts more with every passing day
I just want to be loved
Even in my dreams
clouded by uncertainty
I just don't get enough
Who am I fooling?
