Church Smiles
Come kids, it's time for church.
Quick let me check your smiles before we leave.
And remember if anyone asks just say
look at the smiles on our faces,
look at the happy family we are.
Do you really need to ask how we are?
But this week was different.
In came a new girl, into my life she came.
Short though she was, she had love beyond height.
She said to me your happiness seems so fake. You sure you're alright?
Her eyes bore into mine as I began to recite the words I had been taught so long ago.
But suddenly I found I couldn't continue.
Her eyes now bored so deep into mine
that she saw I was not actually fine.
Come kids, it's time for church.
Quick let me check your smiles before we leave.
We replied, "Look at the smiles on our faces if you want
but don't look too close or you might see
what we've been so keen to hide.
Look at the happy family we are
just don't look to closely or you will see
our true identity."
