My Midnight
I tilt my head
To face
A black ocean
Sky.
Clouds?
Gone.
Deserted the stage of the sky
With the sun,
To let the moon perform
The mysterious ballad
Of midnight.
Stars shimmer as
Milky white gems
Inlaid in the bodice
Of the moon’s
Velvet gown.
With my finger
I trace
The stars
To form
A bear
A princess
A spoon.
They contest
Like Olympic swimmers
In that frigid black ocean
With a goal
To outshine
all the other stars.
My midnight.
