Nightmares
In the dark
On my bed
Comes the thing
I truly dread
I toss and turn
Throughout the night
It is apparent
There's no sleep in sight
Upon my pillow
My head will lay
Until it slowly drifts away
Away to a place I do not keep
Away to a place not made for sleep
I awake with a start
Trembling with the rhythm
Of my pounding heart
Then I try to say something smart
Like it was just a dream
But then it comes
A powerful boa
Around my mind
Until the key
To strength I find
But until then
I toss and turn
For tomorrow I know
They'll surely return
