She's There: A poem deticated to Vida Golubovic

You think you’re clever
That you’ll hide forever
But I can see
Your misery
Your mother’s gone
Your dad’s busy
Your sister’s sad
No one’s happy
But she’s still here
And she’s not
She’s still here
But she’s lost a lot
She may not speak
And may not see
And may not think
And may not read
But she’s there
And always will be
So go to her
And shed a tear
And pray to keep her
One more year.

The author's comments:
Vida, my best friend who was there for me has had a terrible thing happen. It happened the end of sixth grade and she hasn't been the same since. Her mom isn't dead, she's just not there and Vida couldn't be more torn about it. Since then her dad has become heartbroken and she puts on a mask to fool people into thinking she's okay. I love her like a sister and I want her to be happy. Please, if you know her, tell her this poem is waiting for her to read it.
