Tower

I am trapped in a tower
I put up these bricks to protect me
Every hate filled word- lay one down
Every bruise- lay one down
This towers so high I can’t escape
This tower is filled with hate

The tower surrounds me
I let no one in
They might hurt me, just like you did
I sit and stare at the walls made of hate
They stair me back right in the face

Slowly, slowly the memories fade
Bricks crumble one by one
The tower is down but I no longer trust
I let no one in, and I never come out

Those hate filled bricks lay on the ground
I see everything you have done to me
I am building a new tower, with a door and a window
But your bricks will always lay at my feet

This poem i wrote one night, as I was crying thinking about experiences i had during my seventh grade year. Bye the time I was done the page had tears all over it, but I had stopped crying. And I now forgive this person, this was my goodbye to the memories- I'm letting go poem.

This isn't my favorite, but it's a good quote...

"The world needs Christians who don't tolerate the complacency of their own lives." - Crazy Love

Wow, I really think this does capture the moment of this experience. Letting go of things is one of the hardest things to do in life and you captured it really well with your poem here. I love the way you make the bruises and hateful words the bricks. That is a great image. Well done writing this, and thankyou for being "vulnerable" about it.
